China Entry Pack 1.0 -Transportation and Accommodation check-in
When you first came to a country that opens a brand new world to you, you will probably panic and have absolutely no idea what to start with. But do not be. Here we provide a general guideline for you to get to your apartment, most importantly, SAFE. After you land in China and have your luggage dragged with you, you will probably be struggling with which transportation to use. Well, as being in one of the largest countries in the world, you are in luck because you actually get tons of choices! Based on the location of your accommodation, you can use BAIDU map to search for public transportations like bus, minibus or light rails. If that route seems like way too complex for you, you can choose to take the taxi. However, like yellow cabs in the States, taxi does cost more(and most of them only accept cash). That’s why I personally recommend Uber and 滴滴出行(two apps that you can download). Those two are like taxi but with a lower rate of cost, and most importantly, convenient. BUT there is something that you need to notice. There might exist some personal cars around the airport with the driver smiling and waving, inviting you to take a ride with them. DO NOT RESPOND. Those unlicensed cabs are illegal and if they got caught on the street with you being in it, you might get in trouble as well. There might be car rental locations around or inside the airport, but do remember, you have to have Chinese driver’s license in order to drive in China. Otherwise, self-driving to your destination is not an option. Speaking of how to apply for your Chinese driver’s license, it is actually not very hard to get if you have a valid U.S driver’s license. All you need to do is to pass Chinese driver’s knowledge test in order to get the license. For other policies, please use BAIDU(Chinese Google) for further information. After you get to your hotel or apartment, check-in with your passport. Your passport is your ID, unlike the States, you cannot use any photo IDs to verify your identity. Therefore, ALWAYS bring your passport with you since it is IMPORTANT. After everything being settled down, you can finally have a rest and KEEP your passion towards the brand new life ahead.Enjoy your time staying and exploring this country because someday, you will find that China is someplace that you can call a HOME.
